My Red Book San Jose- A guide to the best of the world
San Jose is a city that has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a night out on the town or a quiet afternoon exploring one of the many museums, there’s something here for you. In this guide, we’ll explore some of the best that San Jose has to offer.
The first stop on our tour is the Winchester Mystery House. This sprawling 160-room mansion was built by Sarah Winchester, heiress to the Winchester rifle fortune. After her husband and child died, Sarah became convinced that she was cursed by their ghosts. To appease them, she began construction on this house in 1884 and continued adding to it until her death in 1922. The result is a labyrinthine structure with secret passages, trap doors, and windows that look into other rooms. It’s said to be haunted by the spirits of those who died by Winchester rifles, and it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in spooky history.
Next up is Happy Hollow Park & Zoo. This family-friendly spot is perfect for a day out with kids or adults who are young at heart. The zoo has over 150 animals, including lions, tigers, bears, and birds of prey. There’s also a playground and rides for kids (and adults) of all ages. If you’re looking to beat the heat, take a dip in the water park next door.
For something a little more low-key, check out Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. This museum houses an impressive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, as well as interactive exhibits on hieroglyphs and mummification. Even if you’re not normally interested in history or archaeology, it’s worth checking out this unique museum.
No trip to San Jose would be complete without visiting Silicon Valley – home to some of the world’s biggest tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Apple (to name just a few). You can’t actually tour most of these campuses (except for Apple), but it’s still fun to drive by and see where all those life-changing innovations happen! Make sure to also swing by nearby Stanford University – one of the top universities in the country – while you’re in the area
