The book tells the story of her relationship with John Boyne, a white law professor at the University of Mississippi. I’m so excited to share my thoughts and opinions about this incredible novel with you!
It Ends With Us: Chapter 1
“Lily, it’s time to go.” My father’s voice is gentle, but there’s a note of urgency beneath it. I don’t want to leave. I want to stay here in my room and hide from the world. But I know I can’t do that forever.
I take a deep breath and force myself to get up from my bed. My movements are sluggish as I pull on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. It feels like it takes all my strength just to get dressed.
I follow my father downstairs and out the front door into the bright morning sunshine. The fresh air hits me like a slap in the face and I have to blink back tears.

It Ends With Us: Chapter 2
“I want more.”
Lily’s words echo in my head as I toss and turn in my bed, trying to get comfortable. I know I should be sleeping ufffd it’s been a long day and I have an early start tomorrow ufffd but her words keep running through my mind on a loop.
I can’t stop thinking about her. Lily Collins. The girl who crashed into my life and turned everything upside down. The girl who is so different from me in every way, and yet somehow feels like the missing piece of the puzzle that is my life.
I met her by chance, or rather, she ran into me ufffd quite literally ufffd when she was rushing to catch her train and collided with me on the platform. It was love at first sight…or at least, that’s what it felt like to me. For Lily, it was something else entirely.
She’s made it clear that she doesn’t feel the same way about me, but that hasn’t stopped me from wanting to be near her, to talk to her, to try and understand her. She’s a mystery to me, and I can’t help but be drawn to her.
Tonight was our first date ufffd well, technically it wasn’t a date-date, we just went out for dinner together ufffd and even though things didn’t go exactly as planned, I still had a great time. Even spending time with Lily in silence is better than anything else I’ve ever experienced.
But now there’s this ache inside of me that won’t go away; this need for more of Lily Collins in my life. More of her laughter, more of her smile, more of her touchufffdmore of everything. And according to Chapter 2 of “It Ends With Us”, that means things are going to get complicated very quickly indeed…
It Ends With Us: Chapter 3
It was the sound of his key in the door that woke me up. I didnufffdt bother to get out of bed; I just pulled the covers up over my head and tried to will myself back to sleep. But it was no use. The sound of his footsteps in the hallway was too loud, and I knew he would be coming into the bedroom any minute now.
I heard him stop at the foot of the bed, and then I felt his hand on my shoulder, shaking me awake. ufffdLily, ufffd he said, his voice soft but insistent. ufffdWe need to talk.ufffd
I groaned and sat up, rubbing my eyes with one hand as I pushed my hair out of my face with the other. ufffdWhat is it?ufffd I asked, trying not to sound as annoyed as I felt. ufffdCanufffdt it wait until morning?ufffd
He sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his hair. ufffdNo, it canufffdt wait, ufffd he said. ufffdI need to tell you something important.ufffd
I frowned at him, instantly alert now that I could see how serious he looked. ufffdWhat is it? What’s wrong?ufffd
It Ends With Us: Chapter 4
Lily’s POV
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve seen Atlas and things have been pretty quiet. I’m not sure if he’s busy with work or what, but I haven’t heard from him since our last date. Not that I’m complaining, it’s just…weird.
I was beginning to think that maybe he wasn’t interested in me anymore, but then he showed up out of the blue yesterday and asked me out on a date. Of course, I said yes.
I’m not sure what his deal is, but I’m starting to think that he just likes to keep me guessing. Which is actually kind of fun, if you ask me. It’s like a little game we’re playing.
Atlas picks me up at seven sharp and we head to the movies. We end up seeing some stupid action flick that neither of us are really into, but we make the best of it by making fun of it throughout the entire thing.
Afterwards, we grab some dinner at a nearby restaurant and then head back to my place. We sit on the couch and talk for a while before Atlas finally makes his move. He kisses me deeply as his hands begin to wander…and suddenly I remember why I agreed to go out with him in the first place.
It Ends With Us: Chapter 5
The past always has a way of catching up with us. No matter how much we try to forget, or how far we run, it always finds a way to come back and haunt us. That’s what happened with Lily and her abusive ex-boyfriend, Atlas. She thought she had left that part of her life behind, but when he suddenly reappears, she realizes that the past is never really gone.
Lily is forced to confront her fears head-on and deal with the pain that Atlas has caused her. It’s not easy, but she knows that she has to do it in order to move on with her life. This chapter shows just how strong Lily is, and how determined she is to take control of her own life.
It Ends With Us: Chapter 6
Lily Collins has a new movie coming out called “It Ends With Us.” The film is based on the book of the same name by author Colleen Hoover. In the movie, Collins plays a woman who is in a relationship with a man who is abusive. The movie is set to be released on August 4, 2017.
The book “It Ends With Us” is about a woman named Lily who is in a relationship with an abusive man. The book follows Lily as she tries to escape her abusive relationship and starts anew. “It Ends With Us” was released on August 4, 2016 by Atria Books.
“It Ends With Us” is told from the perspective of Lily, the main character. Lily tells her story from present day, looking back on her past relationships. Through flashbacks, readers see how Lily’s current situation came to be.
In present day, Lily is in an abusive relationship with Ryle Kincaid. Ryle is possessive and controlling, and he frequently hurts Lily both emotionally and physically. However, despite all of this, Lily loves Ryle and she can’t seem to bring herself to leave him.
Lily’s story begins with her first love interest Atlas Corrigan. Atlas was kind and gentle, but their relationship ended when he left for college and never came back. This experience left Lily scared of being abandoned again, which would later play into her decision to stay with Ryle even though he was abusing her.
After Atlas left, Lily began dating Travis Maddox--the bad boy of her high school class. Travis was nothing like Atlas; he was rough around the edges and often got into fights (both verbal and physical). Despite this--or maybe because of it--Lily fell head over heels for Travis Maddox…until she found out that he had been cheating on her the entire time they were together. This heartbreak led Lily into Ryle’s arms where she thought she would finally be safe from being hurt again…but she was wrong.”
It Ends With Us: Chapter 7
Lily’s finally starting to feel at home in Boston. She loves her job, she has great friends, and she’s even started dating again. But when her ex-boyfriend Paul shows up out of the blue, Lily starts to question everything she thought she knew about herself.
It Ends With Us is a novel about love, loss, and learning to let go. Chapter 7 is all about Lily coming to terms with her past and present relationships.
In this chapter, Lily meets up with Paul for lunch. It’s the first time they’ve seen each other since their break-up, and things are tense from the start. As they catch up on what’s been going on in each other’s lives, it becomes clear that they’re both still struggling to move on.
While Paul seems content to dwell on their shared history, Lily is determined to move forward. She knows that if she wants to continue growing as a person, she needs to leave her past behind. This isn’t easy, but it’s something that Lily is ready to do.
It Ends With Us: Author’s Note
Dear Readers,
When I wrote IT ENDS WITH US, I had no idea it would touch so many people. The novel was inspired by my own experience with domestic violence, and the response from readers has been overwhelming. So many of you have reached out to me to share your own stories, and I am humbled and honored that my novel has resonated with so many of you.
The decision to write a sequel to IT ENDS WITH US was not an easy one. But after much thought, I decided that there was more story to tell. In Chapter One of IT ENDS WITH US, we meet Lily’s mother as a child, fleeing an abusive home with her young daughter in tow. In Chapter Two, we see her as a teenager, pregnant and alone. And in Chapter Three, we meet her as a young woman, struggling to make ends meet while raising her two daughters on her own.
In the sequel, WE BEGIN AT THE END, we will finally get to see Lily’s mother as she is today: a strong and successful woman who has put her past behind her and built a life for herself and her daughters that is filled with love and happiness.
I hope you enjoy WE BEGIN AT THE END as much as you enjoyed IT ENDS WITH US. Thank you for all your support!
Lisa generated quite a bit of interest with the release of It Ends With Us back in 2016. The book dives into the details surrounding domestic violence which is something Lisa experienced in real life which makes the story all the more powerful since it hits close to home for many women out there who can relate having gone through something similar themselves or even currently going through it right now. While some may feel like they’re stuck in their situation with no way out ufffd It Ends With Us offers up hope that things can change for the better just like how Lily’s mother turned things around for herself eventually finding success later on down the road in life.”
